US cities losing 36 million trees anually

According to a recent study, trees can lower summer daytime temperatures by as much as 12 C. But trees in US cities are sinking. 

US cities are losing 36 million trees anually from urban and rural communities over a five-year period. 

If this continues cities will become warmer, more polluted and generally more unhealthy for inhabitants.
